It features antioxidant rich ingredients like ginger root, cinnamon, and star anise that aid in healthy digestion, circulation, and inflammation reduction. Chai, specifically masala chai, originated in India. Traditionally, it was made without tea and was caffeine-free. When the British began setting up tea farms in Assam, India in the 1830s, recipes emerged including both spices and tea leaves. Chai was revered as a cleansing Ayurvedic beverage and is still seen as such today. It was always served with milk and a sweetener, and we also recommend enjoying it with some milk and honey.
